Paris 2024 Olympics: What is Vithya Ramraj's personal best in women's 4x400m relay?

Vithya Ramraj is one of the five members of the Indian women's 4x400m relay team at the Paris 2024 Olympics. She will mark her appearance in the field on August 9 in the qualification round of the event.

Vithya produced her personal best in the women's 4x400m relay at the National Open Relay Carnival 2024 in Chandigarh. She, along with MR Poovamma, Jyothika Sri Dandi and Rupal Choudhary, clocked 3:28.64 to clinch the top spot.

Notably, Vithya participated in the women's 4x400m relay event at the Asian Games in Hangzhou last year. The team comprising Vithya, Aishwarya Mishra, Prachi Chaudhary and Subha Venkatesan clocked 3:27.85 to win a silver medal.

Vithya also clinched a silver medal in the mixed relay team along with Muhammad Ajmal, Rajesh Ramesh and Subha Venkatesan, as they recorded a timing of 3:14.34. Moreover, the 25-year-old also took home the bronze medal in the 400m hurdles by equaling PT Usha's national record of 55.42s.

Her personal best in the 400m event came this year at the National Open Competition in Trivandrum. She clocked 52.25 to finish with a gold medal.

Notably, Vithya Ramraj rose to fame with her performances at the 2021 National Open Championships in Warangal. She had first-place finishes in the 400m, mixed 4x400m relay, 400m hurdles and stood second in the 4x100m relay event.

Thereafter, it was no looking back for the skilful sprinter, as she performed exceedingly well in competitions like National Inter State Senior Athletics Championships, National Games and National Open Athletics Championships in 2022.

The 2023 National Games in Bambolim saw her finish with gold in 400m, 400m hurdles, mixed 4x400m relay and silver in 4x400m relay event.


How has Vithya Ramraj fared in 2024?

Vithya Ramraj competed in the qualification round of the women's 4x400m relay event at the World Athletics Relays 2024 in Bahamas. They finished fifth with a timing of 3:29.74 to qualify for the final. However, Rupal Chaudhary replaced Vithya in the final round, as the relay team clinched silver to earn a quota at the Paris Olympics.

Then, she finished second in the 4x400m relay event at the Asian Athletics Championships in Bangkok. The athlete came second in the mixed 4x400m relay event at the National Inter State Senior Athletics Championships in Panchkula.
