Paris 2024 Olympics: When and where to watch the closing ceremony in India?
The ongoing Paris 2024 Olympics is set to culminate on Sunday (August 11), and fans will be eager to enjoy the closing ceremony of the quadrennial tournament. The global event kicked off with an ambitious and grand opening ceremony in the French capital along the Seine River.
The Indian viewers can log in to the JioCinema website or download the JioCinema app to stream the ceremony for free. Viewers can also tune in to the Sports 18 Network TV channels to watch the event unfold live.
The Paris 2024 Olympics closing ceremony will start from 8:00 pm local time (11:30 pm IST). The ceremony will take place a few hours after the conclusion of the final event in this year’s Summer Olympic Games – the women’s marathon.
India, which has won six medals so far in Paris, will be represented in the final day ceremony by pistol shooter Manu Bhaker and Indian men's hockey team goalkeeper PR Sreejesh, who will be the country’s official flag bearers for the event.
France opts for indoor event for Paris 2024 Olympics closing ceremony
The French authorities made history by organizing the first Olympic opening ceremony outside a stadium on July 26.
However, for the closing ceremony on August 11, Paris 2024 organizers have opted for a more traditional approach, choosing to host the ceremony in the country’s national stadium – the Stade de France.
However, much like the case of the opening ceremony, the organizers have been secretive about the planned events for the final day’s festivities as well. As per a report from the Time magazine, the event will feature more than 100 dancers and other performance artists. The ‘visual spectacle’, as the report referred to the event, will also feature singers of global fame, though their identities have not been revealed yet.
The Paris 2024 Olympics closing ceremony will have the traditional aspects seen in every Olympic Games, such as the flag parade, the extinguishing of the Olympic flame, and the handover of the Olympic flag to the next host city, which is Los Angeles.
