Paris 2024 Paralympics medal count Day 2: Updated gold, bronze & silver medal tally for all countries
India opened their medal tally at the Paris 2024 Paralympics as Avani Lekhara won gold in the women’s 10m air rifle standing SH1 event. Mona Agarwal claimed bronze in the same event.
The day turned even brighter with Preethi Pal's bronze in the women’s 100m T35 category, followed by Manish Narwal’s silver in the men’s 10m air pistol SH1, rounding off an inspiring start for the Indian contingent. As of now, India holds the 17th spot in the medal tally with one gold, one silver, and two bronze medals.
While India's medal count has begun to grow, the global Paralympic competition continues to heat up. China dominated the standings, securing a commanding lead with 12 golds across para-athletics, track cycling, and para-swimming, taking their overall tally to 25 medals.
Meanwhile, Great Britain followed them with six golds and 15 total medals, proving to be a formidable force in multiple disciplines. Brazil also made its mark, claiming five golds along with seven bronze medals, positioning itself comfortably in third place at the Paris 2024 Paralympics medal tally.
The Netherlands, who had taken the first gold of the Games on August 29 through Caroline Groot in the Women’s C4-5 500m Time Trial Track Cycling event, currently sit fourth in the standings with four golds.
Other nations such as Italy, Australia, and France have kept the competition close with a string of strong performances. Italy, with three golds and eight bronze medals, is particularly consistent across the events, while Paris 2024 Paralympics host nation France has amassed two golds and showed greater depth with nine total medals.

India had a promising day at the Paris 2024 Paralympics on August 30, securing medals across various sports. Avani Lekhara and Mona Agarwal led the way, winning gold and bronze, respectively, in the women’s 10m air rifle standing SH1 event.
Avani became the first Indian woman to claim two gold medals at the Paralympic Games. Preethi Pal followed this with a bronze in the women’s 100m T35, marking India's first track event medal at the Games. In shooting, Manish Narwal added a silver in the men’s 10m air pistol SH1 final, boosting India’s tally.
In badminton, Nitesh Kumar and Thulasimathi Murugesan recorded a victory in mixed doubles while India saw mixed results across various categories.
In para-archery, Sarita advanced to the next round with a comfortable win but Shyam Sundar Swami's match ended in a tight shoot-off loss. Meanwhile, the Indian para-athletics and para-table tennis teams saw a few setbacks, though Preethi Pal’s bronze finish provided a silver lining for India’s track athletes.
