Paris-bound Avinash Sable sets new 3000m Steeplechase meet record at National Inter State Senior Athletics Championships 2024
Avinash Sable set a new meet record of 8:31.75s in men's 3000m Steeplechase at the National Inter-State Senior Athletics Championships 2024 on Monday (July 1). He bettered his previous record of 8:33.19s, which he set during the National Inter-State Senior Athletics Championships 2019 in Lucknow.
The 3000m Steeplechase national record of 8:11.20s is also held by Avinash Sable, which was created on August 6, 2022 in Birmingham. The Olympic qualification mark for the event is set at 8:15.00s.
Paris-bound athlete Avinash Sable clinched the gold medal in the men's 3000m Steeplechase at the National Inter-State Senior Athletics Championships 2024. Madhya Pradesh's Sumit Kumar and Haryana's Shankar Swami won the silver and bronze medals with a time of 8:46.93s and 8:47.05s, respectively.
Eighteen players were named in the start list of the event. However, Maharashtra's Saurav Tiwari did not start the race, resulting in only 17 participants.
Only 15 out of 17 athletes completed the race. Haryana's Ravi and Andhra Pradesh's Mogali Venkatram Redd pulled out midway through the race and thus did not finish the race.
