Paris Olympics 2024: Arjun Babuta qualifies for 10m air rifle final, Sandeep Singh faces elimination
Indian shooter Arjun Babuta, hailing from Fazilka, Punjab, secured a spot in the men’s 10m air rifle final at the ongoing Paris Olympics 2024 on Sunday, July 28. Arjun Babuta settled for the seventh rank in the men’s 10m air rifle qualification round.
Notably, the top eight shooters make the cut for the final. Arjun's series of scores read 105.7, 104.9, 105.5, 105.4, and 104.6, totaling 630.1 to end at the seventh spot.
Regrettably, he missed out on the final berth in the mixed 10m air rifle team event with Ramita Jindal on Saturday. July 27. However, it was a story of redemption for Arjun and Ramita as the duo secured final spots on Sunday in their respective 10m air rifle events.
Arjun Babuta was the third Indian shooter to make it to the final of a shooting competition at the Paris Olympics 2024. Manu Bhaker was the first to qualify for the final of the women’s 10m air pistol event, eventually, winning the bronze medal. Oh Ye Jin (Republic of Korea) - 243.2, and Kim Yeji (Republic of Korea) - 241.3 were the gold and silver medallists, and Bhaker - 221.7 settled for bronze.
On the other hand, Ramita Jindal became the second Indian shooter to secure the final spot in the women’s 10m air rifle event on Sunday.
Meanwhile, another Indian shooter part of the men’s 10m air rifle qualification round, Sandeep Singh shot 629.3 to secure the 12th position, putting an end to his campaign.
