The Indian men's 4x400m relay team finished fourth in Heat 2 of the event on Friday (August 9) in Paris. They clocked a season-best time of 3:00.58s and fell short by less than a second, costing them a spot in the final round of the men's 4x400m relay.
The Indian relay team comprised Muhammed Anas Yahiya, Muhammed Ajmal Variyathodi, Amoj Jacob, and Rajesh Ramesh.
Yahiya completed the first leg in 45.79s, while Ajmal took 44.55s to complete the second leg in the men's 4x400m race. Amoj and Ramesh clocked a timing of 45.03s and 45.21s in the third and fourth laps, respectively.
France, Belgium and Italy secured a place in the men's 4x400m relay final from Heat 2 as the top three nations. Botswana, Great Britain, and the United States of America, finished first, second and third, respectively, in Heat 1.
Japan and Zambia also secured a place in the final as the next two best teams in terms of timings.
Meanwhile, South Africa also earned a spot in the final, courtesy of the referee's decision as Antonie Nortje was pushed by a Nigerian athlete in the third leg. Thus, Nigeria were disqualified from the tomorrow and finished last in Heat 2.
