Paris Olympics 2024: Did India win a medal on Aug 1?

Day 6 of the Paris 2024 Olympics was very much a mixed bag for India, with the standout performance coming in shooting. Indian shooter Swapnil Kusale took home the bronze medal in the men's 50m rifle 3 positions final on Thursday.

It is the nation's first-ever Olympic shooting medal in the 50m 3P and third in rifle shooting. Kusale wrapped up the contest with 451.4 for the bronze behind China's Y.K. Liu, who took gold with a score of 463.6 ahead of Ukraine's S. Kulish, who took silver with 461.3.

Kusale had booked a spot in the eight-man final with a finish of seventh in the qualifiers with an aggregate score of 590. The other Indian shooter, Aishwary Pratap Singh Tomar, missed out on the final qualification by a whisker as he finished 11th.

With Kusale's win, India has won three medals at the Paris 2024 Olympics, all in the shooting events.

“I have a lot of emotions right now," the Indian shooter said. “This medal means a lot. It is not a gold, but I am pleased I got a medal. To get an Olympic medal is a dream. [H/t Olympics.com]
