Paris Olympics 2024 Golf: Aditi Ashok and Diksha Dagar finish 29th and 49th respectively in women’s event

Indian golfers Aditi Ashok and Diksha Dagar finished in the 29th and 49th spots, respectively, after the fourth round of the women’s individual stroke play event at the ongoing Paris Olympics 2024 on Saturday, August 10.

Despite a positive outing with a 4-under par fourth round, Aditi failed to break into the top ten, mainly due to a disastrous third-round performance. She dropped four places on the day and her performance in Paris has been a far cry from what fans saw at the 2020 Tokyo Games, where she finished in the fourth spot.

Meanwhile, Diksha Dagar had an overall poor outing at the Le Golf National course in Paris. Despite rising six places to the T49 position, she only managed to improve one spot from her performance in Tokyo, where she had finished T50.

Meanwhile, New Zealand’s Lydia Ko claimed the gold medal in the women’s golf event, finishing with a 10-under 278. Germany’s Esther Henseleit won the silver medal, while China’s Lin Xiyu Janet finished third to win bronze.

26-year-old Aditi Ashok was the better performer among the two Indian golfers, finishing in the T29 position. Meanwhile, her 23-year-old compatriot Diksha Dagar, who recently overcame a car accident in Paris, finished in the T49 position.

Both would be immensely disappointed with their results as they gave up leading positions since the first round on Wednesday.

Diksha started round 1 in Paris in the seventh spot, while Aditi ended the first round tied in the 13th place. However, both golfers declined in their positions on the second day.
