Paris Olympics 2024 Golf: India’s Shubhankar Sharma and Gaganjeet Bhullar finish 40th and 45th in individual stroke play finals
Indian golfers Shubhankar Sharma and Gaganjeet Bhullar finished in the tied spots for 40th and 45th respectively in the Paris Olympics 2024 golf men’s individual stroke play event on Sunday.
Team USA’s Scottie Scheffler won the gold medal in the Paris Olympics 2024 golf event, while the silver medal went to Great Britain’s Tommy Fleetwood. Japan’s Hideki Matsuyama secured the bronze medal. Thankfully, the top three places have no ties, which could have led to a potential playoff round to determine the eventual medal winner.
Meanwhile, the Indian golfers had an afternoon to forget in the Paris Olympics 2024 at the Le Golf National course, with veteran golfer Bhullar and 2017 Joburg Open winner Sharma failing to crack the top half of the table. Both athletes made their Games debut in Paris 2024 but will return empty-handed to India.
The results of the Paris Olympics 2024 golf men’s individual stroke play event will be heartbreaking for golfing fans in India, who will now have to rest their medal hopes on the two-member female contingent of Aditi Ashok and Diksha Dagar.
Ashok and Dagar will start their Paris Olympics 2024 journey on August 7. The latter will be especially motivated to make a statement with her performances in Paris, having recently suffered a car accident in the French capital, which left her mother hospitalized.
The Paris Olympics 2024 golf event also saw two withdrawals, with Thailand’s Phachara Khongwatmai and Great Britain’s Matt Fitzpatrick withdrawing due to injuries.
