India's men’s hockey team is part of Pool B, which is also being called the ‘Group of Death’ owing to the presence of some top teams and due to its highly competitive lineup. It includes Argentina, Australia, Belgium, Ireland, India, and New Zealand.

Each team plays against every other team once. The top four teams from the group will advance to the quarter-finals, followed by the semis and finals.

The Indian men’s hockey team made a strong start to their Paris Olympics 2024 campaign by defeating New Zealand 3-2 in their opening match. This victory has placed India in a competitive position in Pool B.

India, ranked 7th in the world, played against the 10th-ranked New Zealand team. The match saw Mandeep Singh open the scoring in the 24th minute, with Vivek Sagar Prasad adding another goal in the 34th minute. Harmanpreet Singh's decisive goal in the 59th minute ensured India’s win. This win helped them clinch the second position in the Group B Paris Olympics 2024 Hockey Points Table.

Meanwhile, Belgium, World No.3, defeated Ireland comfortably 2-0 to take the top spot in the Group B Paris Olympics 2024 Hockey Points Table.

Australia, World No.4, defeated Argentina, World No.6, by 1-0 to stand third in the table. New Zealand, Argentina, and Ireland hold the fourth, fifth, and sixth spots, respectively, after losing their opening game.

With Belgium and India currently leading, the upcoming matches will be critical in determining the final standings. India's next match is scheduled against Argentina on Monday, July 29. A win would strengthen India’s position and move them closer to securing a top-four finish.
