Paris Olympics 2024 Judo: Idalys Ortiz vs Tulika Maan preview, prediction, and where to watch
Legendary judoka Idalys Ortiz from Cuba will take on India's Tulika Maan in the Round of 32 contest at the Paris Olympics 2024 on Friday, August 2.
Ortiz has competed in four Summer Games so far, winning a medal in all Olympics events at the Beijing 2008 (bronze), London 2012 (silver), Rio 2016 (silver), and Tokyo 2020 (silver). The ongoing Paris 2024 is her fifth Games campaign.
Looking into her medal tally, she secured gold medals at the Pan American Games on four occasions in 2011, 2015, 2019 and 2023. Furthermore, she secured gold medals for 10 consecutive years at the Pan American Championships from 2007 to 2016.
On the other hand, Tulika Maan, who secured a silver medal at the Commonwealth Games 2022 in Birmingham, will be India’s lone entry at the 2024 Paris Olympics in judo.
The 2019 South Asian Games champion, Tulika secured her Paris 2024 spot via the continental quota in her division based on the Road to Paris rankings.
The 25-year-old will be making her debut at the Olympics in Paris 2024. She will be competing at her first Olympic Games. Notably, Sushila Devi Likmabam was the lone Indian judoka at the Tokyo Olympics in 2021 but failed to move past the opening round.
