China continues to dominate the medal tally at the Paris Olympics 2024, amassing a total of 16 gold medals as of Saturday. Their strong performance places them at the top of the standings, showcasing their prowess across multiple sports. Trailing closely, the USA has climbed to second place with 14 gold medals.
Paris Olympics 2024 hosts France secures third place with a commendable tally of 12 gold medals. Their athletes have consistently performed well, adding to the excitement and pride of hosting the Games. Australia follows in fourth, also boasting 12 gold medals.
Great Britain holds fifth place with 10 gold medals in the Paris Olympics 2024, complemented by 10 silver and 13 bronze medals, bringing their total to 33. The Republic of Korea, with nine gold medals, stands in sixth place.
Japan's performance has earned them eight gold medals, placing them seventh on the leaderboard. Italy, with six gold medals, ranks eighth. The Netherlands and Canada round out the top 10, with six and four gold medals, respectively.

A day of near-misses for India at the Paris Olympics 2024
India had mixed fortunes on day 8 at the Paris Olympics 2024. In archery, Deepika Kumari showcased her skill by winning the 1/8 elimination round in the women's individual competition, securing a spot in the quarter-finals. However, her journey ended there, as she narrowly lost 4-6 to South Korea's Nam Suhyeon.
Fellow archer Bhajan Kaur couldn't advance, falling in the 1/8 elimination round. In shooting, Manu Bhaker displayed her tenacity, finishing fourth in the women's 25-meter pistol final, just missing out on a medal.
Meanwhile, in boxing, Nishant Dev fought valiantly but was edged out by Mexican Marco Verde with a 4-1 score.
In men's skeet, Anant Singh Naruka struggled to find his rhythm, posting scores of 23, 22, 23, 24, and 24. His total of 116 placed him 24th overall, falling short of the top 6 required to qualify for the medal round.
