Paris Olympics 2024 are set to begin in less than a week's time. However, the organizers have found themselves in a difficult situation, as more than 1.2 million tickets are still unsold. The opening ceremony for the Paris Olympics 2024 will take place on July 26.
According to the data released by the Olympic and Paralympic Games Organising Committee, most tickets for sports like football, basketball, and handball are still to be bought.
According to the organizing committee, most of the tickets for the team sports are struggling to get sold. As soon as the tickets were uploaded online, sports fans and some athletes expressed their disappointment over the high price. The tickets were released online to be purchased last year, but according to some fans, are costly and they don't go with the spirit of the Olympics.
However, Paris Olympics 2024 has also set a record for the most tickets sold. A total of 8.7 million tickets were sold, more than at the Atlanta Olympic Games (8.3 millon) in 1996. As per the stats, more than 60% of tickets have already been sold for the big event scheduled to begin on Friday.
Three Unique things about the Paris Olympics 2024 Opening Ceremony
Every four years, the Summer Olympics take place and every edition comes up with some unique things to display their local culture and make the event historical. This year as well, the organizing committee from Paris has done something different and they will make history during the opening ceremony of the Olympics.
The first unique thing that spectators are set to witness is that the whole ceremony will take place on the River Seine. Every nation will get their respective boats and the athletes will be in the boats holding their national flag. It will be a 6 km track on the river where the boats will float at the heart of Paris.
Another history in making is that the organizing committee has decided to provide free tickets to the fans for the opening ceremony. For the lower quays fans will have to buy tickets which will cost Rs 8000 to Rs 2.5 Lakhs. However, the upper quay tickets are absolutely free for the spectators.
The opening ceremony of the Paris Olympics 2024 will be the biggest one in the history of the Olympics. A total of 3,26,000 sports fans can watch the opening ceremony with more than 2,22,000 will be free of cost.
