Paris Olympics 2024 Rowing: Balraj Panwar finishes last in C/D semis; to compete in Final D

Indian rower Balraj Panwar faced a challenging day at the Paris 2024 Olympics, finishing sixth and last in his men’s single sculls semi-final C/D race on Wednesday, July 31. Despite his best efforts, Panwar could not secure a position in Final C and will now compete in Final D on Friday, August 2, where he will race for positions 19 to 24.

Balraj Panwar started the race promisingly, initially holding the fifth position at the 500m mark. However, he struggled to maintain his pace, eventually dropping to sixth place. He completed the race with a time of 7:04.97 to mark his best performance at the Paris Olympics 2024. However, it was not sufficient for him to finish in the top three.

The semi-finals in the C/D category determined which rowers would proceed to Final C or D. The top three finishers from each semi-final advanced to Final C to compete for positions 13 to 18, while Balraj Panwar and the remaining rowers were relegated to Final D.
