Paris Olympics 2024 Shooting: Anantjeet Singh Naruka finishes 24th in qualification round; bows out of men’s skeet event
Indian skeet shooter Anantjeet Singh Naruka had a disappointing outing on the second day of the men’s skeet event qualification round. He managed to find a total of 116 targets out of 125 to end with the 24th rank in the tally out of 30 shooters.
On Day 1, he was placed at the 26th spot with two rounds left. Unfortunately, he couldn’t create an impact on the second day and moved just two spots up to end the qualification round with a mediocre performance.
In Round 1, Anantjeet Singh missed just two shots as he bagged 23. However, in the second round, he missed on three shots as his total shots rose to 55. Though he put up a decent performance in Round 3, Round 4 and Round 5, missing just one shot in each round, the damage was already done in the initial two rounds.
It’s worth noting that Anantjeet Singh Naruka was India’s sole male shotgun shooter at the Paris Olympics 2024.
Anantjeet Singh will next be in action in the mixed team event alongside women’s shotgun shooter Maheshwari Chauhan on Monday, August 5.

In the trap men's qualification round, Indian trap shooter Prithviraj Tondaiman secured the 21st rank with a total of 118. The top six athletes moved to the final round.
Qi Ying from China, Nathan Hales from Great Britain, James Willett from Australia, Rickard Andersson from Sweden, Jean Pierre Cardenas from Guatemala and Scott Derrick from the USA made the cut for the final. Nathan Hales went on to win the gold medal.
In trap women’s qualification round, Indian shooters Rajeshwari Kumari and Shreyasi Singh settled for 22nd and 23rd ranks with totals of 113 apiece. Guatemala’s Oliva Adriana went on to win the gold medal in the final with Italy's Stanco Silvana securing silver and Smith Penny from Australia bagging bronze.
At the time of writing this article, women’s skeet shooter Maheshwari Chauhan was at the ninth rank with a total of 66. However, Raiza Dhillon couldn't create an impact as she was at the 28th rank.
