Paris Olympics 2024: Who will Indian archers face in knockout matches after ranking round?

After the successful completion of the men’s and women’s archery rankings rounds in the ongoing Paris Olympics 2024, the Indian men’s team will compete with either Turkiye or Colombia in the quarter-finals while the women’s team will take on France or Netherlands in the quarterfinals.

Notably, Indian archers, both men and women, started off on a decent note in the Paris Olympics 2024. Dhiraj Bommadevara and Ankita Bhakat turned out to be the top-seeded Indian archers from the ranking rounds concluded on Thursday, July 25.

The Indian men’s team comprising Dhiraj Bommadevara, Tarundeep Rai, and Pravin Jadhav accumulated a total of 2013 points to finish the third position in the qualification round.

Meanwhile, the Indian women’s team consisting of Deepika Kumari, Ankita Bhakat, and Bhajan Kaur amassed 1983 points to end at the fourth rank in the ranking round. Interestingly, the former World No. 1 archer Deepika couldn't make a great impact as she ended with the 23rd seeding.

On the other hand, the mixed team of Dhiraj Bommadevara and Ankita Bhakat, ranked fifth, with a total of 1347 points. They will compete with Indonesia in the Round of 16.

It’s worth noting that the ranking rounds are conducted to seed athletes, teams, and mixed teams for the main rounds of the Paris Olympics 2024. A total of 128 archers (64 male and 64 female) participated in the ranking rounds.
