Paris Paralympics 2024 medal count Day 2: Updated gold, bronze & silver medal tally for all countries

The Paris Paralympics 2024 is well underway, and as the competition intensifies, so does the race for the top spots on the medal table. China has maintained an overwhelming lead, securing an impressive 42 medals, with a remarkable 20 golds. Their athletes have been dominant across various disciplines, setting the pace from the outset.

Great Britain follows in second place with 25 medals, 11 of them gold. Their strong performance across track cycling and swimming has kept them firmly in the upper ranks.

Brazil rounds out the top three, boasting 22 medals in total, including eight golds. The South American powerhouse has impressed with a balance of strength and consistency across athletics and swimming, proving they are a force to be reckoned with.

Meanwhile, the Netherlands has quietly climbed to fourth place with 10 medals, including six golds. They kicked off their campaign in style with Caroline Groot winning the first gold in the Women’s C4-5 500m Time Trial Track Cycling event.

The United States sits in the fifth place in the standings, bringing home 19 medals, five of which are gold. They continue to show versatility, excelling in swimming, athletics, and shooting. Australia is right behind them in sixth, with five gold medals among their 12 overall.

Uzbekistan is another country to watch, currently ranked seventh with 10 medals, including four golds. France, the Paris Paralympics 2024 host nation, has displayed great resilience, earning 17 medals so far and sitting in eighth place.

Italy and Turkey round out the top 10, with strong showings from both nations. Italy has claimed 15 medals, including three golds, while Turkey has earned nine medals, three of them gold.

India, ranked 17th just a day ago, has now slipped to 22nd place. Despite this, they have a total of five medals, including a historic gold from Avani Lekhara in the women’s 10m air rifle standing SH1 event.


India's performance on Day 3 of the Paris Paralympics 2024

India experienced a mix of highs and lows on Day 3 of the Paris Paralympics 2024. The highlight of the day came from Rubina Francis, who clinched a bronze medal in the women’s 10m air pistol SH1 event, bringing India's total medal count to five.

In para-badminton, Mandeep Kaur put up a gritty fight, rallying from a set down to defeat Australia’s Celine Aurelie Vinot in a thrilling SL3 group match. Nitesh Kumar and Manoj Sarkar also secured straight-set wins in their respective SL3 matches.

However, the day wasn’t without setbacks at the Paris Paralympics 2024. Sivarajan Solaimalai and Nithya Sre Sumathy Sivan fell short in their mixed doubles SH6 semi-final against the American duo, Miles Krajewski and Jayci Simon, pushing them to compete for bronze.

In para-shooting, Swaroop Mahavir Unhalkar finished 14th in the men’s 10m air rifle SH1 qualification, while Rubina's stellar performance earned her a spot on the podium.

Over in para-archery, Sarita progressed to the quarterfinals but was outshot by Türkiye's Cure Girdi Oznur, while Sheetal Devi exited in the 1/8 eliminations. Parveen Kumar finished eighth in the men’s javelin throw F57 final, with his best effort measuring 42.12 meters.
