Paris Paralympics 2024 Para-Cycling: Arshad Shaik and Jyoti Gaderiya finish 30th and 15th in C1-3 road race events
Arshad Shaik and Jyoti Gaderiya failed to challenge for a podium finish as they ended the Paris Paralympics 2024 para-cycling men’s and women’s C1-3 road race events in the 30th and 15th places, respectively.
Arshad, 31, finished the men’s C1-3 road race event with a timing of 26:15s, while 26-year-old Jyoti registered a timing of 33:45s in the women’s C1-3 road race. The results meant that the Paris Paralympics 2024 para-cycling contingent failed to make any additions to India’s haul of 27 medals in the ongoing quadrennial event.
Meanwhile, the 2023 Real World Championships silver medalist Thomas Peyroton-Darret clinched a surprising gold medal in the men’s event with a timing of 20:31s. Peyroton-Darret added to the gold medal that he had already secured at the C3 individual time trial event.
In the women’s event, Tokyo 2020 Olympian Brown Clara of the United States won the gold medal with a timing of 23:59s. She massively improved upon her eighth-place finish at the Paris Paralympics 2024 para-cycling women’s C1-3 individual time trial event.
The Andhra Pradesh-born duo of Arshad Shaik and Jyoti Gaderiya, who are making their Paralympic Games debut this year, previously represented their nation at the Paris Paralympics 2024 para-cycling C2 individual time trial event and finished in the last positions.
