As the Paris 2024 Olympics draws to a close on Sunday (August 11), members of the Indian contingent are creating memories for a lifetime following the conclusion of their events.
PR Sreejesh who played a stellar role for the Indian men's hockey team that won a second successive bronze medal at the Games teamed up with silver medalist javelin thrower Neeraj Chopra for a priceless photograph.
Chopra also thrilled fans by posing for a solo image in front of the Eiffel Tower in celebration of his remarkable achievement at the Paris 2024 Olympics.
Sreejesh who announced ahead of the commencement of the Paris Olympics that the quadrennial extravaganza would be his last tournament spearheaded the Indian campaign throughout the competition.
The Indian goalkeeper manufactured an array of stunning saves that helped the Indians overcome Great Britain despite being down to 10 men after getting better of Australia for the first time in 52 years at the Olympics.
Meanwhile, Neeraj Chopra recorded a season-best throw of 89.45 metres in his second attempt which was good enough to earn a well-deserved silver medal.
It was therefore befitting that the two athletes came together to create a special moment that was relished by Indian sports fans.
PR Sreejesh had also played his part with aplomb when the Indians finished on the hockey podium after a gap of 41 years at Tokyo 2020 while Neeraj Chopra became the first track and field athlete from the country to win an Olympic gold.
India end campaign with six medals at Paris 2024 Olympics
The Indians have ended their Paris 2024 Olympic campaign with a total of six medals including five bronze medals and one silver.
Manu Bhaker got the Indians off to a flying start by winning a bronze medal at the women's 10m air pistol event before scripting history by winning a second bronze while teaming up with Sarabjot Singh in the mixed team 10m air pistol event.
Swapnil Kusale added to India's tally with a bronze medal in the men's 50m rifle 3 positions event at the Chateauroux Shooting Centre.
The Indian men's hockey team defeated Spain in the bronze-medal match at Paris 2024 to register a record-extending 13th podium finish at the Olympics.
Neeraj Chopra then won the Indians their first silver medal of the competition in the men's javelin throw event before wrestler Aman Sehrawat bagged bronze in the men's freestyle 57kg category.
The People's Republic of China has won 38 gold medals with an overall tally of 89 thus far, while the United States have won 37 gold and a total of 121 medals.
