“Promise to honor your support” – Nishant Dev pledges to fight for his dreams after Paris Olympics heartbreak

Boxer Nishant Dev vowed to make a strong comeback after his heartbreaking exit from the Paris Olympics 2024. He had a great chance of becoming only the second male boxer to win a medal for India at the quadrennial event after Vijender Singh but he agonizingly fell short.

Nishant said that he was shattered after failing to live up to expectations. However, the 23-year-old athlete mentioned that he has found peace and is all set to start working hard. He thanked his coaches and other loved ones for standing by his side in tough times and motivating him.

“In the days that followed, I have had time to reflect and find peace within myself. The disappointment was overwhelming, but the love and support I received have been equally powerful. To my family, friends, coaches, and well-wishers – thank you,” Nishant wrote in a post on Instagram.
“Your belief in me has been a guiding light through these moments and promise to honor your support by continuing to fight for my dreams, stronger and more determined than ever before,” Nishant added.

How did Nishant Dev perform at the Paris Olympics 2024?

Nishant Dev began his campaign on a spectacular note in the 71kg category after winning his round of 16 bout against Ecuador’s Jose Gabriel Rodriguez Tenorio. The youngster stormed in the quarterfinal after beating his Ukrainian opponent 3-2.

But he fell short against Mexico’s Marco Verde, losing the match 1-4. Had he won, he would have confirmed a medal for India and joined the likes of Vijender, Lovlina Borgohain and Mary Kom to win Olympic medals for India.

As far as other boxers are concerned, Lovlina was looking to win back-to-back Olympic medals but she also crashed out before the semis. Amit Panghal, Nikhat Zareen, Preeti Pawar and Jaismine Lamboria also failed to make much of an impact with the boxing team.
