Six athletes in Palestine team for Paris Olympics 2024
Palestine will send a six-member contingent to Paris for the Olympic Games 2024, an official from the Palestinian Olympic Committee confirmed to The Associated Press (AP). The six-member contingent at the Paris Olympics 2024 will include one female athlete.
Nader Jayousi, the technical director of the Palestinian Olympic Committee, confirmed that the country will compete in boxing, swimming, shooting, judo, and taekwondo. Additionally, he also stated that there is a possibility of a Palestinian athlete earning a spot in athletics.
The six athletes competing at the Paris Olympics 2024 include taekwondo player Omar Ismail, who secured a quota place for the country.
The remaining five athletes will compete under the universality quota places. Jorge Antonio Salhe will compete in shooting, Fares Badawi in judo, and Wasim Abusal in boxing. Tokyo Olympics athletes Yazan al Bawwab and Valerie Tarazi will represent their nation in the swimming events.
The country has seen only 26 athletes compete at the Olympics to date.

The 2020 Tokyo Olympics saw five athletes represent Palestine in the showpiece event. The athletes competed across four sports - swimming, athletics, judo, and weightlifting.
Hanna Barakat finished fifth in the women's 100m heats with a time of 12.16s. In judo, Wesam Abu Rmilah lost to Germany's Dominic Ressel in the Men's 81kg round of 32 match.
Mohammed Hamada secured 13th place in the Men's 96kg weightlifting event. He lifted a total of 310kg (137kg in Snatch and 173kg in Clean & Jerk).
In swimming, Yazan Al-Bawwab finished 66th in men's 100m freestyle heats with a time of 54.51s. Dania Nour, on the other hand, finished 71st in women's 50m freestyle with a time of 30.43s.
