Surodchana Khambao will be among the strong contenders, including India's Tokyo 2020 silver medalist Mirabai Chanu, to secure a spot on the podium in the women's 49kg weightlifting final at the Paris Olympics 2024.

Born on December 23, 1999, in Thailand, Khambao has distinguished herself in the weightlifting arena, especially with her triumph at the 2021 World Weightlifting Championships in Tashkent, Uzbekistan.

Khambao's weightlifting journey began with the 2017 Asian Indoor and Martial Arts Games, where she competed in the women's 53kg category and achieved a fifth-place finish. Since then, she has accumulated numerous accolades and is now setting her sights on her first Olympic podium finish.

Khambao earned her qualification for the Paris 2024 Olympics with a commendable performance at the 2023 World Championships in Riyadh, securing a fourth-place finish in the women’s 49kg category.

As she steps into her first-ever Olympics at the French capital, she will look for a podium finish.


Surodchana’s Recent Form and Performance

At the 2023 World Championships in Riyadh, she finished fourth in the 49kg weight class, lifting a total of 194kg which was her season best. Her personal best lifts are a snatch of 90kg and a clean and jerk of 110kg, totalling a personal record of 200kg.
