Vinesh Phogat Coach Name: All you need to know about Vinesh's coach Woller Akos
On Tuesday, August 6, Vinesh Phogat's coach Woller Akos, had broken down in tears watching his student achieve her dream. Akos was overwhelmed seeing Vinesh clinch a historic spot in the women's 50kg finals at the Paris 2024 Olympics.
Woller, who is from Hungary, has been Vinesh's coach since 2018. It was at a training camp in Hungary that the two had met five years back. Akos took her under his wing and made a significant contribution to helping her iron out the glitches in her technique. He also helped her with mental conditioning.
Since then, Phogat has made significant progress. Apart from being sensational at the Paris Olympics 2024, the 29-year-old had also won the 2024 Spanish Grand Prix. She had also clinched the gold at the 2022 Commonwealth Games under his guidance.
Akos is no kin to coaching having also coached his wife, Marianna Sastin, to a World Championship gold medal in 2011. Marianna is an Olympian wrestler herself. After Vinesh's disappointing show at the 2020 Tokyo Olympics, Woller was in the midst of a controversy.
The coach came in for criticism for prioritizing his wife's training over Vinesh's and was being blamed for her show. However, the incident did not hamper his bond with Vinesh as they moved on from it quickly.
