[Watch] Arshad Nadeem breaks Olympic Record, throws 92.97m to top final at the end of Round 3
Pakistan's Arshad Nadeem has made a roaring start to the men's javelin throw final at the Paris 2024 Olympics. The javelin thrower has set the world on fire with a throw of 92.97m which is the new Olympic record.
The 27-year-old achieved the feat in his second attempt and is now looking all set for a coveted podium finish. If Nadeem does win a medal in Paris, he will become the first javelin thrower from Pakistan to do so.
Arshad Nadeem was visibly happy with his throw that broke the Olympic record. The entire crowd at Stade de France broke in applause watching the thrower achieve a feat of such magnitude. The athlete had looked confident from the get go as he made his appearance at the finals.
Though everyone expected Neeraj Chopra to excel in the finals, Nadeem's throw took most viewers by surprise. He is a solid competitor but not many would have predicted to see him breaking the 90m mark and lead Neeraj.
