[WATCH] Indian archery men’s trio of Tarundeep, Dhiraj and Pravin’s first training session at the Olympics venue ahead of Paris 2024
The Indian archery team at the Paris Olympics 2024 has a maximum possible quota of six archers set to represent the nation on the world’s biggest stage. The men's archery team features veteran Tarundeep Rai, a three-time Olympian, alongside debutant Dhiraj Bommadevara and Tokyo 2020 Olympian Pravin Jadhav.
In a video posted by Indian Archery on their social media handles, the men’s trio was seen practicing hard at Les Invalides, which will host the archery events at Paris Olympics 2024. The ranking rounds of archery will take place on July 25, followed by elimination rounds from July 29 to August 4.
It was notably the first training session at the venue for Tarundeep, Dhiraj and Pravin, who are eyeing India’s maiden archery medal at the Olympics.

The ranking rounds at the Paris Olympics 2024 are critical for the Indian archery team's success. A strong performance in the ranking rounds can significantly influence their matchups in the elimination rounds, allowing them to avoid early clashes with top-tier teams like Korea, France, Italy, and Turkey, among others.
With their current form and impressive performances, the Indian men’s archery team is expected to deliver strong results in the ranking rounds. A high ranking would pave the way for smoother progress through the elimination rounds, boosting their chances of advancing deep into the competition.
Dhiraj Bommadevara is currently the top-ranked Indian male archer, sitting at the 12th spot in the World Archery rankings. Tarundeep Rai is ranked 31st, and Pravin Jadhav is at 114th.
This season has been impressive for the Indian archers, with Dhiraj averaging 9.52 points per arrow and achieving a career-best score of 693. Tarundeep has averaged 9.38 points per arrow with a career-best of 684, while Pravin has averaged 9.29 with a career-best of 676. Remarkably, all three archers have achieved their career-best scores this season, indicating peak form ahead of the Olympics.
