[Watch] Indian archery team fine tunes skills in practice session ahead of Paris Olympics 2024

The Indian archery team is gearing up for the upcoming Paris Olympics 2024 by undertaking valuable practice sessions prior to the games. In a post shared by IndiaSportsHub on X, the Indian contingent can be seen honing their skills at a practice session in Paris leading into the individual ranking rounds that will be starting on July 25. Archery is one of those few events that will be beginning prior to the opening ceremony, which is slated to be held on July 26.

With a total of six members, the Indian archery team consists of three males and an equal number of females. Tarundeep Rai, Pravin Jadhav and Dhiraj Bommadevara will compete in the men’s recurve event. Bhajan Kaur, Ankita Bhakat and Deepika Kumari would be representing the nation in the women’s event.

The Indian men’s team would be high in confidence after winning the gold medal at the 2024 Archery World Cup Stage 1 in Shanghai. In a splendid display of archery, India defeated the No. 1 ranked South Korean team in the competition.

Can the Indian archery team win its maiden Olympic medal at the Paris Olympics 2024?

The fact that India has never won an Olympic medal in archery shall serve as a motivator for the athletes to do something special. It is the first time in 12 years that both of India’s men’s and women’s archery teams have managed to secure Olympic quotas.

The Indian team would certainly be hoping to win a medal at the Summer Games with the contingent competing in all five medal events which are individual, men’s and women’s teams and mixed categories.

Though the Indian men’s team had to suffice with a loss to South Korea in the quarter-finals at the Tokyo Olympics 2020, they would be optimistic of bettering their performance in Paris having improved their performances in the recent past.

While the men’s team is coming fresh off a gold finish in World Cup Stage 1, the mixed team of Ankita Bhakat and Bommadevara had also won bronze at the same event. Also, each of the three men’s archers had accomplished personal best scores in the qualifying rounds.
