Indian swimmer Srihari Nataraj is all geared up to show his class in the Paris Olympics 2024. Nataraj is one of the two Indian swimmers, along with Dhinidhi Desinghu, for the upcoming quadrennial event to be held from July 26 to August 11. Prior to the showpiece event, the 23-year-old uploaded a video on social media where he can be seen unboxing his kit and showing it off to his fans.
He carried two pairs of shoes, a pair of slippers, his swimming kit, and other important swimming gear. Lastly, he showed his Indian jersey with his name on the back written in gold. Nataraj looked enthusiastic as he unpacked his luggage.
Srihari Nataraj sets his goals for Paris Olympics 2024
Earlier, Srihari Nataraj spoke about his aspirations to take part in the semi-finals in Paris. The youngster said that if he manages to beat his personal best of 53.77 seconds in the 100-meter backstroke that he achieved back in 2021, he will fancy his chances of getting close to a podium finish in the Olympics.
“I just have a goal towards trying to get a personal best. And I think if I make a personal best, it puts me in a good spot to be in the semifinals,” Nataraj told PTI in an interview.
Nataraj rode on his luck to book his ticket to Paris. He could not get a direct entry into the upcoming Olympics after he missed the qualification mark. However, the Universality Quota, where two top-ranked athletes are recommended by the home association, helped him out.
Back in the 2021 Tokyo Olympics, Nataraj finished 27th and could not make it through to the final. But his current form has been stupendous. Last year, he won 10 medals, including eight gold, in the National Games.
No Indian swimmer has won a medal thus far in the Olympics.
