Arshad Nadeem and his journey in the Paris Olympics 2024
Arshad Nadeem came into the Olympics as one of the favorites, as he had already crossed 90 meters once back in the Commonwealth Games in 2022. In the qualifying round, Nadeem threw 86.59 meters and finished fourth. But in the final, Arshad put his best foot forward. In his first attempt, Nadeem looked indifferent, and he had to mark his run-up again, but he ended up making a foul throw.
However, Nadeem delivered the knockout punch with his second attempt. From there on, he did not look back and kept putting in decent throws. After he had confirmed himself a gold medal, Nadeem finished off with a throw of 91.79 meters.
Nadeem also ended Pakistan’s 32-year-long wait of winning an Olympic medal. India’s Neeraj Chopra, who won gold in Tokyo, won the silver medal with a best attempt of 89.45 meters. Grenada’s Anderson Peters finished with the bronze medal after a throw of 88.54 meters.
