[Watch] Snoring audio in Arshad Nadeem's Independence Day video goes viral

Pakistan’s first-ever individual gold medalist Olympian, javelin thrower Arshad Nadeem, made headlines by posting a video on Pakistan’s Independence Day that was overshadowed by snoring audio in the background.

As Nadeem requested his fellow country citizens to change their profile pictures on social media platforms to celebrate the 78th Independence Day, a loud snore in the background distracted users, which led to the video going viral on the internet.

“Arshad Nadeem asking Pakistani awaam to rise up while there is guy snoring in the background. Poetic,” a fan posted on X (formerly Twitter).
“On Pakistan’s 78th Independence Day, I appeal to my entire nation to come together as one and make a firm decision that we are united. Just as on August 8, when winning the gold medal at the Paris Olympics brought a wave of happiness not only in Pakistan but among Pakistanis around the world, I want you all to stand with me once again,” Arshad Nadeem said in the video.
“Just as I am kicking off this campaign by changing the profile pictures on all my social media accounts for August 14, I urge you all to join me in updating your profile pictures and proudly showing the world that we are Pakistani,” he added.

Arshad Nadeem was quick to delete the video

The video went viral in no time on X (formerly Twitter) as many users trolled the athlete for posting the video without cross-checking the background audio. However, Nadeem was quick to delete the video as he uploaded a new version without any background noise.

Notably, Arshad Nadeem created an Olympic Record at the Paris Olympics 2024 as he threw a distance of 92.97m in the men’s javelin throw final to secure the gold medal, the country’s first-ever individual gold at the Games.

India’s Neeraj Chopra settled for a silver medal with a throw of 89.45m, his season-best. Grenada’s Anderson Peters bagged the bronze medal with a throw of 88.54m.

This was the second Olympic appearance for Nadeem after missing out on the medal at the Tokyo Olympics in 2021, settling for the fifth spot in the final.
