[Watch] What all does an athlete get in the Paris 2024 Olympics welcome bag?
The Paris Olympics 2024 is set to officially start in another two days, with some events already scheduled for today (July 24). A total of 32 sports will be featured in this edition of the Summer Games with a total of 329 events and approximately 10,500 athletes taking part in those.
USA, China, Russia are the top medal holders of recent times and will be eager to add to their already successful and long tally this time out. However, prior to the Olympics, athletes from all countries along with the refugee team will be receiving certain surprises.
One of them has recently been unveiled and displayed on social media - the athlete welcome bag. Well what is the athlete welcome bag? Let's have a look at it!
What's inside the bag?
The small black bag with the Olympics logo printed on it has reusable bottles which are powered by Cocacola and Powerade. Another small bag which looks like a pencil bag is inside it with some goodies from Procter & Gamble. However, the main attraction is a Olympic edition cell phone sponsored by Samsung.
Indian contingent for Paris Olympics will also receive the same
The Indian contingent of 117 athletes which will represent the nation across various sports will also be receiving the same. India's medal hunt will be led by the country's golden boy Neeraj Chopra and stalwarts like PV Sindhu and Mirabai Chanu. The Tokyo edition of the Olympics witnessed India salvage seven medals and with the preparations and government aid to the athletes, the expectations are higher this time.
The Indian contingent has received sufficient training as prior to the Paris Olympics, they were training in Saarbrucken, Germany, to enhance their improvement areas. Compared to the previous two editions, the contingent looks stronger and more hopeful of winning medals.
Athletes like PV Sindhu and Mirabai Chanu, who are recognized as true champions will be looking for redemption after their respective injuries. There are sports where India are yet to make a mark like table tennis but the Paris Olympics is expected to be a perfect platform to break that myth and script a new history for the country on the international arena.
