"Watching you bounce back from Tokyo 2020 has been inspiring" - PV Sindhu welcomes double bronze medalist Manu Bhaker in a special list
PV Sindhu heaped praise on Manu Bhaker after the Indian shooter kept performing in the Paris Olympics 2024. On Sunday, Bhaker won the bronze medal in the women’s 10m Air Pistol event. Thereafter, on Tuesday, the 22-year-old shooter bagged bronze in the 10m Air Pistol team event along with Sarabjot Singh after beating South Korea.
Manu became the second Indian athlete after Norman Pritchard in 1900 Paris to win multiple medals in a single Olympic edition. Moreover, she joined Sindhu as one of the two Indian female athletes with more than one medal in the history of the Olympics.
Sindhu also lauded Bhaker for recovering from her heartbreak in Tokyo to come up with trumps in Paris. Back in 2021, Bhaker’s Olympic dream crashed after her pistol malfunctioned.
“I could not find a better picture to welcome this sweet young girl into the 2 Olympic medal Club! From defending me on social media to joining me in the club, it is clear you are a special talent. Manu, watching you bounce back from Tokyo 2020 has been inspiring. Godspeed girl,” Sindhu wrote in a post on Instagram.
"Made a fake profile to defend Sindhu" - Manu Bhaker
About Manu Bhaker defending Sindhu, the former made an interesting revelation. Bhaker had said that she once created a fake profile to shield Sindhu from online trolls.
“There was one time where I made a fake profile to defend Sindhu from some haters,” Bhaker told Sportstar.
Sindhu remains one of India’s most decorated athletes. Having already won the silver medal in the Rio Olympics, followed by her bronze in Tokyo, Sindhu is looking to win her third medal in the showpiece event.
Bhaker’s campaign, in the meantime, is not over. After her incredible showing in the 10m Air Pistol event, she will aim for a third medal when she takes part in the 25m pistol event.
