Who is Arvind Malik? All you need to know about the Indian para-athlete competing at the Paris 2024 Paralympics

Arvind Malik is an Indian para-athlete who competes in the shot put F35 category. Arvind has represented India in various international competitions and will also feature in the Paris 2024 Paralympics.

Arvind Malik, born on June 14, 1993, faced a tragic accident at the age of nine when a cricket ball hit his head, causing neural damage that paralyzed his left leg. Despite facing major setbacks he found inspiration in his younger brother, who is a hammer throw athlete.

Malik started his career with discus throw but later shifted to shot put. He has achieved significant success at national and international levels. Malik is currently supported by an NGO, the Olympic Gold Quest (OGQ) initiative.

Before his transition to shot put, Arvind had secured two medals in discus and javelin throw events in the F37 category at the Asia Oceania Championship 2016 held in Dubai. The 2018 Asian Para Games was Arvind's early significant international appearance in the shot put F35 category.

Malik finished seventh in the men's shot put F35 category with a best throw of 13.48 meters at the Tokyo 2020 Paralympics. At the IWAS World Games 2022, Malik won a bronze medal in the men's shot put F35 category. This was a commendable performance in a highly competitive field.
