Wrestler Aman Sehrawat claims World No. 2 ranking in men's 57kg after Paris 2024 Olympics bronze
Wrestler Aman Sehrawat has achieved the World No. 2 ranking in the men’s 57kg category after his success at the Paris Olympics 2024. Sehrawat, who won the bronze medal in Paris, surged four positions to clinch the No. 2 spot. The rankings were announced by the United World Wrestling on Sunday, August 18.
Aman is ranked behind Japan’s Rei Higuchi, who takes the number one spot in the rankings. While Rei leads with 59,000 points, Aman stands second with a total of 51,600 points. The two wrestlers had competed in the semifinal of the men’s 57kg category at the Paris Olympics, where Higuchi had defeated Sehrawat in the bout.
The Japanese wrestler went on to clinch the gold medal, while Aman achieved the third-place finish, bringing India its only wrestling medal from the Paris Olympics 2024.
By doing so, the 22-year-old became India's youngest-ever Olympic medalist and ensured India’s unbeaten record of winning a wrestling Olympic medal at every Olympic Games since Beijing 2008.

Aman Sehrawat is being hailed as a hero since returning from a highly successful maiden Olympic appearance in Paris. The young star was welcomed grandly on his arrival back to India recently.
Aman was greeted with huge cheers and garlands. He was also showered with immense love and praise from fans around the country. Not just praise, Sehrawat has also received another instrumental reward for his accomplishment in Paris.
The wrestler was promoted to the post of ‘Officer’ of On Special Duty (OSD) at the Northern Railways. The promotion was a tribute to Aman from Indian Railways for his glorious debut at the Summer Games in Paris. The position was offered to him by Sujit Kumar Mishra, Principal Chief Personnel Officer at Northern Railways.
