WTT Contender Tunis 2024: Results at the end of Day 1
After the successful completion of the Lagos tour, World Table Tennis moved to Tunisia, named WTT Contender Tunis 2024, starting on June 25, Tuesday with qualifying rounds in men’s singles and women’s singles.
In the men’s singles first qualifying round, Indian paddlers Snehit Survajjula and Manush Shah received byes to make it to the second qualifying round. They will next take on Tobians Rasmussen and Kim Minwoo respectively.
In the women’s singles first qualifying round, Indian female paddlers Archana Girish and Diya Parag received byes to make the cut to the second qualifying round. They will next compete with Nikoleta and Jana Riera respectively in the second qualifying round.
In the main draw, Harmeet Desai, Manav Thakkar, Sathiyan Gnanasekaran, and Sharath Kamal are part of the men’s singles. Interestingly, these paddlers were also part of the Lagos tour but couldn’t make an impact in the knockouts. Notably, these four players are also part of the Paris 2024 squad.
In the women's singles main draw, Ayhika Mukherjee, Manika Batra, Yashaswini Ghorpade, and Sreeja Akula will compete. Sreeja would be aiming to make it big after winning titles in the women’s singles and doubles in Lagos 2024.
In men's doubles, Sathiyan Gnanasekaran - Harmeet Desai, Snehit Suravajjala - Manush Shah, Sharath Kamal - Manav Thakkar are the three pairs part of it.
In the women's doubles, Archana Girish - Manika Batra, Yashaswini Ghorpade - Diya Parag, and Ayhika Mukherjee - Sreeja Akula are three pairs. Ayhika and Sreeja will receive a bye and directly make it to the pre-quarter-final round.
In mixed doubles, Archana Girish - Manav Thakkar, Ayhika Mukherjee - Snehit Suravajjala, Diya Parag - Manush Shah, Sathiyan Gnanasekaran - Sreeja Akula, Yashaswini Ghorpade - Harmeet Desai are five different pairs part of it.
Diya - Manush and Yashaswini - Harmeet are the two different pairs to receive byes in the first rounds and they will move directly to Round of 16 in the WTT Contender Tunis.
