World Championships 2023 gold medallist boxer, Wu Yu from China will be taking on Indian ace boxer Nikhat Zareen in the Round of 16 bout at the Paris Olympics 2024 on Thursday, August 1.
Having secured her Paris Olympics 2024 quota after winning the Asian Games 2023 gold medal, Wu Yu is one of the strong medal contenders at the Summer Games in Paris. She also secured the Strandja Memorial 2024 gold medal recently.
She defeated Korea's Kang Su-Hyang by 5-0 at the Asian Games, Uzbekistan's Sabina Bobokulova by 5-0, and Mongolia's Oyuntsetsegiin Yseugen by 5-0 in the semi-finals. In the final, she defeated Thailand's Raksat by 5-0 to earn the gold medal and eventually the Paris 2024 quota.
