"You can still upgrade to JioCinema premium" - Joydeep Karmakar's hilarious reply to a 22-year-old comparing her life with Manu Bhaker
Manu Bhaker is only 22 years old and has won two medals at the ongoing Paris Olympics 2024. At first, she bagged a bronze in the women's 10m air pistol event, following which she partnered with Sarabjot Singh to win a bronze again in the mixed team 10m air pistol discipline.
Hopes were high for her as a few days back she made it to the finals of the women's 25m air pistol final. However, she ended her campaign in fourth place, narrowly missing out on a podium finish.
Meanwhile, a fan on social media, who claimed herself to be the same age as Manu Bhaker, compared her life with the shooter's. She wrote on X:
"Manu Bhaker and I are both born on Feb 18 2002 and she has 2 Olympic bronze medals and I have Jio Cinema."
Joydeep Karmakar, a former Olympian and also someone who made a fourth-place finish at the 2012 London Olympics in the men's 50m rifle prone event. He was the first Indian shooter to register a fourth spot in the finals of a shooting event at the Olympic Games. Karmakar quoted the fan's post on X and wrote a witty comment which read:
"Don’t lose your hope, you can still upgrade to Jio Cinema premium."
Manu Bhaker's journey at the Paris Olympics 2024
Manu Bhaker made India proud by winning two medals and finishing fourth at her third event. She will now be India's flagbearer at the Summer Games' closing ceremony. She expressed her gratitude by saying:
"It is an honour and privilege to be named as India’s flagbearer for the Closing Ceremony of the Paris Olympics. Leading the outstanding Indian contingent with the tricolour in my hands with millions around the world watching is a truly humbling opportunity and one that I will cherish forever. I am grateful to The IOA for considering me worthy of this honour, and I look forward to raising the Indian flag with immense pride. Jai Hind!"
After Neeraj Chopra's historic gold at Tokyo Olympics, he was being called India's golden boy. And now, with two medals and a superb comeback from the Tokyo Games, Manu Bhaker is being considered as India's golden girl.
