Yusuf Dikec’s daughter opens up on the reasons behind her father’s success at Paris Olympics 2024
Yusuf Dikec has hogged the headlines over the last few days due to the style and swagger that he showed during the 10m Air Pistol mixed team event at the Paris Olympics. He and his shooting partner Sevval Ilayda Tarhan won the silver medal after losing to Serbian pair Zorana Arunovic and Damir Mikec 14-16 in the gold-medal match.
Although he did not finish on top, Dikec made the headlines for his lazy elegance at the shooting arena. In the meantime, a video is circulating on social media platforms where Dikec’s daughter opens up on the reasons behind her father’s success in Paris.
She said that she gave him tactics and motivation as she would have been upset had the Turkish shooter not won a medal. She revealed that Dikec’s hands do not shake because he takes a deep breath and releases it before pulling the trigger.
"I am a natural shooter" - Olympics silver medalist Yusuf Dikec
The astonishing aspect of Dikec’s campaign in Paris was that he did not use any special equipment. He did not have the ear protection that other shooters used. He did not have specialized glasses used to block vision in one eye.
After his impressive campaign, the 51-year-old Dikec revealed why he did not use the equipment.
“I did not need special equipment. I am a natural shooter,” Dikec told Turkish media, as quoted by Euro News.
Wearing only his prescription glasses and with hands in his pocket, Dikec finished on the podium. But he says success needs years of hard work, dedication and persistence.
“Success does not come with your hands in your pocket,” Dikec added.
Interestingly, it was in the same event where the Indian duo of Manu Bhaker and Sarabjot Singh won the bronze medal after beating South Korea 16-10.
