Paris Olympics 2024: India's results on August 9 – Aman Sehrawat wins bronze
Day 14 of the Paris Olympics saw India secure its sixth medal of the Paris Olympics 2024. After probably what was the country’s best day at the Games, the Indian athletes added to yesterday’s success with some incredible performances.
The headline of the day was undoubtedly Aman Sehrawat’s bronze medal in the men’s freestyle 57kg wrestling event. The 21-year-old wrestler added his name to history books by becoming India’s youngest Olympic medalist. Sehrawat defeated Darian Cruz of Puerto Rico with a commanding 13-5 victory in the bronze medal match.
On the track, India’s 4x400m relay teams put on an outstanding performance but fell agonizingly short of qualifying for the finals. The men’s team of Muhammed Anas, Rajesh Ramesh, Amoj Jacob, and Muhammed Ajmal clocked a season-best time of 3:00.58. Despite their impressive run, they finished fourth in their heat, just 0.32 seconds behind Italy, who claimed the final spot for the finals.
On the other hand, the women’s 4x400m relay team of Jyothika Sri Dandi, MR Poovamma, Vithya Ramraj, and Subha Venkatesan finished last in their heat with a time of 3:32.51.
On the greens, Indian golfers Aditi Ashok and Diksha Dagar faced a challenging third round in the women’s individual event. Both golfers slipped down the leaderboard, with Aditi currently sitting in 40th place and Diksha just behind her in 42nd. With one round remaining, they will be aiming for a strong finish to improve their standings and end their Olympic campaign on a high note.
