Paris Paralympics 2024 India Day 11 Schedule: Full list of events, venues, & timings in IST, September 8

The Paris 2024 Paralympics have been a landmark event for Indian athletes, who have already achieved their best-ever performance at the Games with 29 medals, surpassing their previous record of 19 medals at Tokyo 2020.

India will have one final opportunity to reach the 30-medal mark on Day 11, the last day of the event, on Sunday, September 8. Pooja Ojha, competing in the Women's Para Canoe KL1 200m event, will be the sole Indian athlete in action on the last day.

Pooja will compete in the semifinals of the Women's Kayak Single 200m KL1 discipline on Sunday. While she still has a shot for a medal, the journey has been challenging for the Indian para-canoe athlete.

She finished last in her heats with a time of 1:16.09 but despite the odds, the semifinals offer Pooja a second opportunity to compete for a spot in the final. She previously won a silver medal at the World Championships in a non-Olympic category and will aim to better her performance and give India one last shot at the elusive 30th medal.

The Indian contingent’s remarkable 29 medals, comprising seven gold, nine silver, and 13 bronze, make the 2024 Paralympics the nation's most successful edition yet, and the closing ceremony, set to take place at 11:30 PM IST on September 8 at the iconic Stade de France, will mark the end of a month-and-a-half of unforgettable sporting achievements.

While Pooja Ojha takes center stage in India's final sporting event, the closing ceremony will be a fitting tribute to the achievements of all Indian athletes who participated in the Games. Archer Harvinder Singh and sprinter Preethi Pal will be India’s flagbearers at the ceremony. Harvinder made history by winning India’s first-ever Paralympic gold in archery, while Preethi’s remarkable performance earned her two medals at the Paris 2024 Paralympics.

The closing ceremony promises to be a grand event featuring speeches, artistic performances, and the official handover to Los Angeles, the host city for the 2028 Paralympics. It will cap off more than a month of thrilling sports in the 'City of Light,' with the Paralympic spirit shining through the inspiring stories of thousands of athletes.
