44th edition of VK Pahuja Swimming bulletin launched at the India International Centre
The 44th edition of the VK Pahuja Swimming bulletin was launched on Sunday, June 23, 2024, at the India International Centre. It has been compiled by Dr. Meenakshi Pahuja and was released by the former Air Force officer, Air Commodore Dr. Ashminder Singh Bahal, who is also a gallantry award winner.
The first copy of the 44th edition was presented to PD Dutta, who is a senior diving official.
Dr. Ashminder Singh Bahal commended the work behind the 44th edition of the VK Pahuja Swimming bulletin, stressing upon the power that sports has in helping individuals build character. He also went on to appreciate swimming as a sport that is beneficial for health.
VK Pahuja, the founder of the Swimming Statistical Bulletin, started the bulletin and has made tremendous contributions in several capacities for Indian swimming and the international fraternity as well.
On this momentous occasion, his exemplary work was remembered by multiple persons, which included members of the Swimming Federation of India, Balraj Sharma, and Raj Kumar, apart from Col. RS Bhanwala and Bhanu Sachdeva, who are also Arjuna awardees.
The key utility of the bulletin is all the details and statistics of local, national and international aquatics. It was heartily acknowledged by everyone present at the launch.
VK Pahuja's three children, Priyank and Dr. Supriya, apart from Dr. Meenakshi, put in a great effort, as a sheer labor of love, in bringing out the bulletin on the same date in June every year.
An associate Professor of Lady Shri Ram College, Dr. Meenakshi has bagged several international medals in swimming and is also a recipient of the Nari Shakti Puraskar award from the President.
The 44th edition of VK Pahuja Swimming bulletin spanning 460 pages, includes a section for the Paris Olympics
The latest edition of the VK Pahuja Swimming bulletin runs 460 pages long. It has numerous articles on areas such as diet, injury management, health advice, etc from doctors, swimmers, and lecturers.
The bulletin also comprises a series of interviews of prominent and promising swimmers and coaches. An important aspect of the bulletin is that the book also has a dedicated list of all Indian participants in the international arena, spanning 90 years.
The bulletin also serves as a ready reckoner for the aquatic fraternity. With the Summer Olympics closing in, the bulletin also includes a special article for the Paris Olympics, that has been thoughtfully compiled, named, "Paris Olympics 2024."
