Mare Nostrum Swim Tour: Srihari Nataraj wins gold, Sajan Prakash bags silver medal
The International Swimming Championship, Mare Nostrum Swim Tour 2023, is the premier swimming competition that was organized in Mediterranean regions. The event took place from 13 May to 21st May. The tour was completed in three stages. Canet-en-Roussillon, Barcelona, and Monaco hosted the tournament respectively.
Indian swimmers are also in action at the event. Two of the best swimmers for India at the International level competed in the tournament today. These include Srihari Nataraj and Sajan Prakash. Nataraj participated in the 100m Backstroke event while Sajan was up in the 200m Butterfly event.
The swimmers were excellent in their respective categories. Both athletes were successful in securing the medals for India at the event. Srihari was the man of the moment for India.
The boy from Bangalore, shined in his outing at the Mare Nostrum Swim Tour 2023. Nataraj made it to the first position in the 100m Backstroke category of the event. Nataraj clocked a time of 55.29 to secure the medal for India.
This timing wasn’t only better in the finals, but he clocked 55.15 in both heats. This was way better than his qualification timings at Asian Games. At the Asian Games, he clocked 55.72. Nataraj has impressed before many times. He won Gold medals in 4 categories in the 2019 Kathmandu South Asian Games.
The 22-year-old is one of the finest swimmers for India in the current circuit and these performances would only make him better. He also swam for India at Commonwealth Games 2022 and Tokyo Olympics.
Sajan Prakash wins a silver medal at the Mare Nostrum Swim Tour
The 29-year-old, Sajan Prakash, showed his experience at the International circuit once again. He earned the second position in the 200m butterfly category of the event. Sajan clocked the timing at 2:00:37 to win the silver for India. This is the second win for India at Mare Nostrum Swim Tour 2023.
Sajan Prakash has loads of experience which includes multiple Gold Medals at the South Asian Games, and National Games, in India. He also has a silver in the Asian Indoor Games.
