Sreeja Akula climbs in latest ITTF rankings, Manika Batra loses one spot
Sreeja Akula has climbed one place to No. 24 in the latest ITTF rankings in women’s singles. She advanced after Korea Republic’s Joo Chenohui dropped two spots to No. 25.
India’s Manika Batra also went down to a place to No. 27 after Miyuu Kihara of Japan moved a place up to No.27. India’s Ayhika Mukherjee gained five places up to No. 84 in the rankings.
Yashawini Ghorpade of India stayed at No. 88 in the rankings with 299 points. China’s Sun Yingsha is on top of the rankings with 10800 points. She is followed by China’s Wang Manyu with 6865 points. China’s Chen Meng holds the third spot with 5750 points.
China’s Wang Yidi, Japan’s Hina Hayata, Miwa Harimoto, and China’s Chen Xingtong held the fourth, fifth, sixth, and seventh places, respectively, in the rankings.
Sharath Kamal moves up in the ITTF rankings
In the men’s singles, Achantha Sharath Kamal gained one place up to No. 39 in the rankings for men’s singles. China’s Wang Chuqin is on top of the rankings with 7325 points. China’s Lin Shidong is second in the rankings with 5620 points.
China’s Fan Zhendong is third with 4733 points. Liang Jingkun, Felix Lebrun, and Hugo Calderano are fourth, fifth, and sixth, respectively.
Sreeja, India’s top-ranked player, recently played in the China Smash, WTT Champions Montpellier, and WTT Champions Frankfurt. Back in August, Sreeja had also become only the second Indian woman to qualify for the Round of 16 in the women’s singles at the Paris Olympics.
In the pre-quarters, Sreeja put World No.1 Sun Yingsha under immense pressure in the first two games, but the latter held her nerves to beat her Indian opponent.
Manika was the first to achieve the feat after she defeated home favorite Prithika Pavade in the pre-quarters. Sharath Kamal crashed out after losing to Deni Kozul of Slovenia.
