3 Milestones Novak Djokovic can reach at Wimbledon 2024

Novak Djokovic is - statistically, at least - the greatest tennis player of all time. His records of 24 Grand Slam titles and 420+ weeks as the World No. 1 might never get beaten.

However, the 37-year-old is in the twilight of his career and had the No. 1 spot taken from him by Jannik Sinner of Italy when he had to withdraw from the 2024 French Open owing to a knee injury he suffered in the fourth round. Djokovic subsequently underwent surgery.

The Serb recently confirmed that he is is going to play at Wimbledon, alleviating the fears of his millions of supporters after weeks of speculation. In this article, we look at three milestones Djokovic can reach at Wimbledon 2024, which begins on Monday, July 1.

#3. Becoming the oldest World No. 1

Djokovic will find it to be considerably tough to win back the No. 1 spot. Sinner leads him by around 1500 points. The Italian will have 800 points to defend at this year's Wimbledon as a losing semifinalist last year.

Djokovic, meanwhile, will have 1200 to defend as last year's runner-up. Should he go on to win the title, he will earn 800 additional points. If Sinner makes an eatly exit from the tournament and Djokovic goes on to win the title, the Serb might be World No. 1 once again.

In that case, he will become the oldest player to stand at the top of the ATP Singles Rankings at 37 years and two months old.

#2. Winning a record-equaling eighth Wimbledon title

Djokovic has won seven titles at the All England Club and has only Roger Federer in front of him in that respect. He will match Federer's record should he win the title this time.

Djokovic is already at par with American great Pete Sampras, who also won seven Wimbledon titles. Winning eight titles at SW19 will surely be a fantastic achievement for the 'Big 3' member.

#1. Djokovic winning a record 25th Grand Slam title

Djokovic is already at the top among men, with Rafael Nadal being the next best with 22 Majors. However, Margaret Court among women has won 24 Slams too and the Serb will have the motivation of surpassing her this year at Wimbledon.

Very few records in tennis are actually beyond the Serb's reach at the moment, as he has scaled one peak after another in style. Still, winning a 25th Grand Slam title will be the icing on the cake.
