3 tennis couples who got back together even after breaking up ft. Stefanos Tsitsipas-Paula Badosa

Paula Badosa and Stefanos Tsitsipas are the most recent addition to the list of tennis couples that are still together after having broken up. Badosa confirmed the duo's split not long back but they are still together for the time being.

From Jimmy Connors and Chris Evert to Stefanos Tsitsipas and Paula Badosa , there have been a range of tennis couples whose love stories were or continue to be greatly followed by tennis fans. However, just like the former, not many of these tennis couples could sustain their relationships while there are instances like that of the latter who broke up and got back together soon after.

With that said, let's take a look at a few such couples who got back together after taking a break from their relationship.

#3 Radek Stepanek and Nicole Vaidisova

Czech tennis player and former World No.8 Radek Stepanek married compatriot and former World No.7 and 11 years his junior, Nicole Vaidisova in 2010 after more than two years of dating.

Stepanek was engaged to tennis star Martina Hingis before getting together with Vaidisova who despite a promising start to the career, sought an early retirement from tennis, the same year she married the Czech. However, the union did not last long as the two filed for divorce in 2013.

While Vaidisova retired, returned to the court and sought another retirement in 2016, Stepanek won two Grand Slams in the doubles category and dated another tennis sensation Petra Kvitova after his divorce. Soon after her second retirement, Stepanek confirmed that their romance rekindled on Facebook and in 2018, while Vaidisova was expecting their first child together, the two tennis stars got married for the second time in Prague.

Stepanek shared the revival of their marriage on Instagram with his caption reading:

#2 Gael Monfils & Elina Svitolina

Gael Monfils and his wife Elina Svitolina are adored by many for their relationship, the snippets of which they often share on their joint Instagram account titled "G.E.M.S life."

The former World No.6 Frenchman married the former World No.3 Ukrainian in 2021 in a dreamy wedding in Geneva after two years of dating but their relationship was not devoid of its fair share of struggles.

While an Instagram message by Monfils following a post by Svitolina led to an inseparable bond, busy schedules as professional tennis players brought an end to their honeymoon phase and after two years of dating, they decided to take a break from their relationship. With regards to the same, they posted a statement online that said (via 9Honey Celebrity):

"The decision was incredibly difficult, because we still have love for each other. "
"But it's just two best friends realising it's time to take some space and help each other live the most joyous, fulfilled lives as possible," the statement further read.

However, the break did not last for long as they not only got back together after a couple of months but also decided to take a step further and get engaged. They got married after three months in July 2021 and welcomed their daughter Skai the following year.

#1 Stefanos Tsitsipas and Paula Badosa

Greek tennis player Stefanos Tsitsipas and Spanish tennis player Paula Badosa have been in a relationship since the French Open last year and are currently one of the most loved tennis couples.

Stefanos Tsitsipas made the first move and as the two began dating, they changed their respective Spotify profiles to selfies with each other which confirmed their relationship for their fans. They even made a joint Instagram account thereafter where they shared glimpses from their relationship.

Fondly nicknamed “Tsitsidosa" by their fans based on their aforementioned social media account, Stefanos Tsitipas and Paula Badosa have often expressed their love and admiration for each other, both as partners and players. Additionally, they were also planning to play together at Wimbledon in 2023 before the latter was forced to pull out from the same due to certain injuries.

However, in May 2024, after a year of dating, the couple decided to call it quits and Badosa shared the news through her Instagram story which said (via People's Magazine):

"After careful consideration and many cherished moments together, Stefanos and I have decided to amicably part ways. We have shared a journey filled with love and learning, and it is as friends with immense mutual respect that we now choose to move forward on our own paths."

But the two could not stay away for too long and after less than a month since their announcement to part ways, they got back together. Speaking about the same, Stefanos Tsitsipas said (via Tennis.com):

"After two, three weeks I realized that she is a person who has supported me a lot and when she tried to talk to me about meeting I felt how intense the love we have for each other is. I realized that this relationship I have with Paula is completely different from any other relationship I have had in the past.
"I feel that she is my person and we understand each other; that puts more value in everything I do and I want her by my side as often as possible. So yes, we've reconnected and we're in a good moment," he added.

The couple was also spotted together ahead of their respective third-round clashes at the ongoing French Open.
