Elena Rybakina vs Beatriz Haddad Maia preview
Third seed Elena Rybakina will take on sixth seed Beatriz Haddad Maia in the quarterfinals of the Abu Dhabi Open.
Rybakina has had an impressive start to the 2023 season, winning eight out of 11 matches so far. The Kazakh produced some brilliant tennis to reach the Australian Open final, beating Iga Swiatek and Victoria Azarenka in the process. However, she lost to Aryna Sabalenka.
Rybakina then competed in the Abu Dhabi Open and sealed her place in the quarterfinals by beating Karolina Pliskova 6-4, 6-2.
Haddad Maia started the 2023 season at the United Cup and won both of her singles matches in the tournament as Brazil were eliminated in the group stage.
The Brazilian then competed at the Adelaide International 2 and reached the quarterfinals before losing 7-6(5), 7-5 to Paula Badosa. She suffered a disappointing opening-round exit at the Australian Open after losing 7-6(11), 6-2 to Nuria Parrizas-Diaz.
Haddad Maia then entered the Abu Dhabi Open as the sixth seed and started the tournament with a 4-6, 6-3, 6-0 win over Marie Bouzkova. She faced Yulia Putintseva in the second round and edged out the Kazakh 6-4, 6-7(5), 7-6(4) to book her place in the quarterfinals.

Elena Rybakina vs Beatriz Haddad Maia predictions
Rybakina will enter the match as the favorite to win given her recent form. However, Haddad Maia should not be written off given her form over the past few months.
Rybakina has a strong serve and will look to fetch as many free points as she can through aces. The Kazakh loves to play aggressively from the baseline and will look to attack Haddad Maia from the start of the match. However, she will have to be careful not to hit too many unforced errors.
The Brazilian will also try to attack and make the most out of her powerful groundstrokes. Her doubles involvement has aided her net game and she will look to come forward as frequently as she can.
While Haddad Maia is capable of putting up a good fight, Rybakina's recent form should see her book her place in the semifinals of the Abu Dhabi Open.
Pick: Rybakina to win in three sets.
