Tommy Paul vs Michael Mmoh preview
World No. 23 Tommy Paul will square off against compatriot Michael Mmoh in the second round of the 2023 Mexican Open on Wednesday.
Paul commenced his campaign in Acapulco against Emilio Gomez in the opening round. The first set was rather one-sided, with the American dishing out a breadstick.
Paul secured an early break in the second set to lead 3-1. He even served for the match at 5-4, but Gomez broke back in the nick of time to level the score. The set soon went into a tie-break in which the American gained the upper hand to win the match 6-1, 7-6(4).
Mmoh, meanwhile, took on fellow American Marcos Giron in the first round. The latter led by a break twice in the opening set and even served for the set, but the former broke back on each occasion.
Mmoh was the better player in the tie-break later on and came out on top to take the set. He completely took charge of the match in the second set, dropping just one game in it to win the match 7-6(3), 6-1.
Tommy Paul vs Michael Mmoh head-to-head

Tommy Paul vs Michael Mmoh prediction
The two players won their first-round matches with near-identical scorelines, which included a tie-break and a dominant set. Paul has gradually improved over the past year and has some noteworthy results to his name.
Mmoh has begun doing the same this year, starting with a maiden third-round showing at a Major at the Australian Open. He was quite steady against Giron in the opening round and saved 12 of the 14 break points that he faced.
Aside from a minor stumble while closing out the match, Paul was the superior player during his first-round encounter against Gomez. The American struck 21 winners while committing 16 unforced errors.
Paul is a more aggressive player in this match-up. He's quite effective from the back of the court and isn't afraid to come forward and finish off points either. Mmoh is certainly capable of presenting a challenge, but the World No. 23 should be able to withstand it to advance further.
Pick: Tommy Paul to win in straight sets.
