Andy Murray turns ice-cream man in Cincinnati

Murray after his Rogers Cup win, with runner-up Novak Djokovic

World No. 2 Andy Murray, fresh off a victory at the Rogers Cup in Montreal, Canada over No. 1 Novak Djokovic, is in the U.S. ahead of the Cincinnati Masters. The Scot, seeded second at the tournament in Ohio, has a first-round bye, and will play American Mardy Fish in his second round match.

The 28-year-old donned a pair of sunglasses, a cap and a wig to surprise customers at an ice-cream parlour in the eastern American state. Serving customers from behind the counter, he managed to hoodwink a few, but his cover did not last long as several patrons spotted him. Fan Julie Boniface did, and tweeted a picture with the two-time Grand Slam winner:

Murray, who was previously known as a dull personality on and off-court, has in recent years appeared to have undergone a transformation of personality. At this year’s Davis Cup, Murray pranked his Great Britain teammate Dominic Inglot, saying “Dom’s got a little girlfriend here in Glasgow” to an interviewer, despite knowing Inglot was in a long-term relationship.

He also appeared in a humorous video with IT Crowd star Richard Ayoade to raise money for UNICEF this year.

Murray married his long-term girlfriend Kim Sears in August following a 10-year relationship. The two met at the 2005 US Open and have been together ever since. An agent for the double Grand Slam winner confirmed last month that the couple are due to be parents in February of next year.
