Ankita Das inspired by Rosol's heroics
The Olympic-bound table tennis player Ankita Das, who beat Swamini in Hong Kong and got a wild card entry for the London Olympic is inspired by the Czech republican Lukas Rosol. Rafael Nadal surprisingly lost to the Czech player in the second round at Wimbledon.
“Tennis is not my sport but the Rosol victory had a huge effect on me. If a 100th placed player can show one of world’s top ranked stars the door, then I also have a chance in the Olympics,” said Ankita, a surprise qualifier for Olympics.
“I am aware of my limitations at the Olympics,” said 19-year-old Ankita, who along with Soumyajit Ghosh, also from Siliguri, Bengal were the only two Indians to make the London grade. “But at the same time, I can always give my best,” she said.
On Saturday night, the 19 year old girl left for Zhengding, China, where she will be trained for Olympic games.
