Alexander Zverev vs Andrey Rublev preview
World No. 2 Alexander Zverev will square off against Andrey Rublev in the group stage of the ATP Finals 2024.
Zverev started the season by winning the United Cup with his fellow Germans and then made the last four at the Australian Open, the Los Cabos Open, and the Miami Open. He also advanced to the quarterfinals of the Indian Wells Masters.
Zverev continued his good form on clay and improved with every tournament. He claimed his first individual title of the season at the Italian Open and progressed to his second career Major final at the French Open. He led Carlos Alcaraz by two sets to one in the final but lost the match in five sets.
The German lost in the fourth round at Wimbledon and finished as the runner-up at the Hamburg Open. His title defense at the Olympics concluded in the quarterfinals. He wrapped up the US Open series with a quarterfinal showing at the season's final Major. He has also arrived at the ATP Finals in great form, having won the Paris Masters a week ago.
Rublev has been quite inconsistent after a solid start to the season, during which he won the Hong Kong Open and reached the quarterfinals of the Australian Open. He arrived at the Madrid Open on a four-match losing streak and then went on to win the title there.
Rublev's results weren't up to the mark after that, and he returned to form with a runner-up finish at the Canadian Open. He then reached the quarterfinals of the Cincinnati Open and the fourth round of the US Open. Since then, he made the last eight at the China Open, the Stockholm Open, and the Swiss Indoors, and failed to win matches at the Shanghai and Paris Masters.

Alexander Zverev vs Andrey Rublev prediction
Rublev has blown hot and cold for most of the season but has still compiled a 43-23 record. Zverev, meanwhile, has easily outpaced him in terms of match wins and has a 66-20 record this year. However, the German has lost his last four matches against top 10 players for a 5-6 record against them this season.
Rublev has a 3-3 record against top 10 opposition and has lost his last two matches against them. Zverev won his first five matches against the Russian and then lost the next three. He snapped his losing skid over a year ago with a routine win at the ATP Finals.
Zverev's confidence will be high after his triumph at the Paris Masters. He has also won the ATP Finals twice in the past and has a 14-9 record at the venue. Rublev, on the other hand, has gone beyond the group stage only once and has a 4-9 record at the tournament. As such, the German will be expected to begin his quest for a third title here with a win.
Pick: Alexander Zverev to win in straight sets.
