Australian Open 2019, Day 4: Schedule and Order of Play
Day 3 of the Australian Open took place today with the 2nd round matches beginning in the men's and women's singles. The doubles also began today with the first round taking place.
Roger Federer, Rafael Nadal, Maria Sharapova, and Angelique Kerber, to name a few, all achieved straight-set victories to move into the third round. The biggest upset of the day was Kevin Anderson's loss to USA's Frances Tiafoe.
Meanwhile, the Indian challenge came to an end in the men's doubles in the very first round. Rohan Bopanna and Divij Sharan lost their first competitive match of the year. Meanwhile, Leander Paes and Jeevan Nedunchezhiyan lost their respective doubles matches as well.
Day 4 will have over 60 matches across various courts and the action will begin at 11 AM AEDT (5:30 AM IST). The second round will conclude tomorrow in the men's and women's singles.
Elina Svitolina will kick things off on Rod Laver Arena as she takes on Viktória Kužmová in the first match of the day. Stan Wawrinka will take on Milos Raonic in the second match of the day at Rod Laver Arena while Simona Halep will end the morning session with her match against Sofia Kenin.
Eugenie Bouchard will take on Serena Williams in the first round of the night session while Novak Djokovic will take on Jo-Wilfried Tsonga in the final match of the night session on RLA. This will be a rematch of the 2008 final, which saw Djokovic come out on top.
Margaret Court Arena will see Kei Nishikori, Alexander Zverev, Naomi Osaka, Venus Williams, and Garbine Muguruza play their respective matches.
